Nourishing Your Wooden Jewelry
Just like our skin, wooden jewelry requires proper conditioning to combat dryness and maintain its natural radiance. Conditioning also enhances the wood's unique grain pattern and color.
The conditioning process involves applying a small amount of oil to the surface. Natural oils like jojoba, olive, beeswax, and linseed oil are ideal choices for this purpose.
To condition your jewelry, dispense a few drops of oil onto a soft cloth and gently massage it into the wood. Allow the oil to soak in for a short period before wiping away any excess. For the best results, consider conditioning your jewelry every few months, or more frequently if you reside in a dry climate.

How often do I need to reapply if necessary:
Once finished and cured, you may never have to reapply it again. We have projects that are over 30 years old that have never had to be refinished. Our formulas are meant to become more protective and durable over time. However, we understand that there are some items like cutting boards or wood floors that may get more wear and tear than something like a rocking chair. If you have a wood surface finished with a T&T product that looks like it needs some love, simply burnish with your preferred 4/0 (ultra-fine) wool and reapply. More severe damages may require sanding the area with your final grit first, then reapplying.
Water damage repair: Use 0000 grade steel wool to buff out as much of the affected area as possible. Then, use a lint-free cloth to apply a small amount of the Original Wood Finish to the damage wood. Follow the normal recommended application directions. For watermarks— if damage is severe, sand water mark away using fine grit sand paper until it is smooth and even with the surrounding surface. Reapply the Original Wood Finish to the water mark by following the normal recommended application directions. Remember to always protect the wood surface using coasters or anti-scalding devices.
OUTDOOR FURNITURE AND 3D OBJECTS

Outdoor use: Keep in mind that outdoor furniture and décor are more susceptible to weather damage, such as moisture and UV rays, than indoor items. Tung oil provides the protection, but it cannot completely shield your pieces from the elements.
Elevation and airflow: Elevating your furniture and other pieces slightly will help to reduce contact with ground moisture and improve airflow underneath. If you live in an area with a lot of rain or snow, it is best to move your outdoor furniture indoors during those seasons.
Resealing: We strongly recommend resealing outdoor furniture annually with tung oil. This will help to preserve the appearance and structural integrity of your pieces.
For outdoor projects, we recommend using tung oil as the topcoat over two coats of exterior sealer. This combination provides excellent protection against the elements, including UV rays, moisture, and extreme temperatures. Tung oil is also elastic, which means it can expand and contract with the wood as it changes with the environment. This helps to prevent cracking and peeling.
Tung oil fills the pores of the wood more completely than other finishes, providing additional protection. It also helps to bounce UV light off the surface, which can help to reduce fading. However, it is important to note that tung oil will dull over time with intense sun exposure. We recommend reapplying the layer of tung oil at least once a year to maintain the finish and protect the wood from the elements.

How to Protect Your Indoor Furniture from Heat, Cold, and Moisture
Here are a few tips on how to protect your indoor furniture from heat, cold, and moisture:
Keep your furniture away from heat sources. Excessive heat can dry out the wood and cause it to crack. Avoid placing your furniture near fireplaces, radiators, heat vents and direct sun.
Place felt feet or similar protectors on the bottom of your furniture. This will help to protect your floors and rugs from moisture damage. It will also make it easier to move your furniture around.
Use trivets or coasters to protect your furniture from hot or cold beverages. Direct contact with extreme temperatures can damage the wood.
Avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause the wood to fade and crack over time.
